Our Club History

The Rotary Club of Abeokuta Metropolitan brings together business owners, professionals and community leaders who believe that service above self is the most practical way to change lives. Every week our members meet, plan and then go out into the wards of Abeokuta to deliver projects that last. From free medical outreaches and solar-powered boreholes to classroom renovations and artisan empowerment grants, our work is designed with the communities we serve — never simply handed to them.

District 9111

🌟 District Overview and Leadership The Geographic Footprint: The district covers a bustling mix of urban, suburban, and rural communities across Lagos and Ogun States. This diverse terrain allows clubs like yours to design projects tailored specifically to the unique infrastructure and healthcare needs of your direct environment. The Current Administration (2026–2027): The district is currently led by District Governor Bukola Olabisi Bakare, the first female District Governor in the history of District 9111.

Global Rotary

Here is exactly how the Foundation operates to transform your gifts into global and local impact:💰 How Funding Works (The Share System)The Foundation operates on a unique and highly efficient funding cycle designed to maximize accountability: The Three-Year Cycle: Money donated to the Foundation’s Annual Fund is invested for three years. The interest earned covers the Foundation's administrative and operational costs.

Rotary in Nigeria

Nigerian Rotarians have been at the forefront of community transformation for decades, pioneering historic milestones in healthcare, clean water access, and literacy. Since the first Rotary club was chartered in Nigeria in 1961, local members have driven sustainable, life-changing interventions across the nation. 💉 Leading the Charge in Polio Eradication Nigerian Rotarians played a monumental role in one of the greatest public health achievements in African history. The Frontline Battle: For decades, local Rotarians worked alongside health workers, traditional leaders, and international partners to deploy vaccines, fund sensitization campaigns, and track cases in hard-to-reach areas.
